When we launched Friendsgiving Ideas back in 2015, we were convinced the world needed a Friendsgiving cookbook. While we still haven’t got around to creating the culinary compendium, we are pleased to share the latest Friendsgiving happenings below.
‘Friendsgiving’ cookbook has recipes, tips for Thanksgivings, dinner parties
Alexandra Shytsman’s family came to New York City from the Ukraine when she was 9 knowing very little about American Thanksgiving traditions. Those early holidays were a welcome day off from work, Shytsman says now, but had little to do with turkey and dressing. As a kid, Shytsman ended up learning a lot about Thanksgiving from the Food Network. “I was learning about American culture by watching the food,” she says. She became enthralled as television chefs roasted turkeys, baked stuffings and filled pie doughs. By high school, she decided to create her own tradition – a Friendsgiving dinner party. Read more.

More is always merrier when Lauren Conrad and her husband, lawyer William Tell, gather their crew for a Friendsgiving feast.
“We’ve had to rent an extra table and chairs in past years,” says the Celebrate author, who schedules the dinner a week and a half before Turkey Day. “You have to take into consideration that a lot of people travel for the holiday,” she explains. “So you can do it one of two days: You can do it in addition to a Thanksgiving, or you can do it in place of it, if you have friends who don’t travel for the day.” Read more.
FarmTable Cucina hosts third annual ‘Friendsgiving’
Businesses all over the Bay area are already gearing up for Thanksgiving.
On November 15, FarmTable Cucina is hosting its third annual Friendsgiving. This four-course family-style meal with wine pairings is an opportunity for guests to enjoy a gourmet meal on their covered outdoor Center Patio. Part of the proceeds from the dinner will go to “Feeding Tampa Bay.” If you can’t make the dinner and want to help those in need, you can drop off non-perishable food items at LOCALE Market.
